Dolphins Close To Trading For Cardinals QB Josh Rosen?

Update:

Jason La Canfora has been told that the Josh Rosen trade between the Cardinals and Dolphins is agreed to and would include only Miami’s second-round pick.

Armando Salguero reports that it’s “safe to believe the Dolphins would not give up their second-round pick (48 overall) for Josh Rosen.”

  • According to Kent Somers, the Cardinals deal with Dolphins for Rosen is not done yet.
  • A source tells Adam Beasley that for the Dolphins to consider parting with their second-round pick in a trade for Rosen, they would likely need a fourth-round pick back from the Cardinals.

Pro Football Talk, citing multiple sources, reports that the Dolphins are close to a deal for QB Josh Rosen and an agreement may actually be “tentatively done.”

  • PFT adds that Arizona would get the Dolphins’ second-round pick (No. 48 overall) as part of this deal.
  • Mike Garafolo mentions that it’s possible the trade includes a late-round pick headed to the Dolphins, as Miami feels like No. 48 overall is “too tilted in Arizona’s favor.”

The Dolphins were clearly the team to watch Rosen after the Giants and Redskins both drafted quarterbacks in round one.

Reports had said that if a deal were to get done, it likely would have included a second-round pick and would be finalized at some point Friday, so this isn’t a big surprise.

Arizona has already paid Rosen a $10,926,792 signing bonus, so he has a very reasonable contract moving forward.

Rosen, 22, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2018. He signed a four-year, $17,664,284 contract and stands to make base salaries of $570,000 and $660,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Cardinals to pick up in 2021.

In 2018, Rosen appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
