Report: Dolphins Expected To Pursue Ravens LT Eugene Monroe In Free Agency

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are plan to pursue Ravens LT Eugene Monroe should he reach the open market in the coming weeks.

  • Jackson adds that Miami prefers to sign a veteran left tackle in free agency, instead of drafting someone.
  • According to Jackson, the Dolphins “very much like” Monroe and Chiefs LT Branden Albert.

Depending on what happens in free agency, Jackson mentions that Notre Dame’s Zack Martin could be an option for the at No. 19 overall.

The Ravens have said that Monroe is a priority for them this offseason, and they are currently in contract talks with his agent. However, recent reports have indicated that the two sides aren’t close as of now.

Monroe, 26, was able to step in and play very well for the Ravens at position of need for them. Trades rarely produce immediate results in the NFL, so there is something to be said about Monroe’s performance last season.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 qualifying left tackle in the league. We have both Monroe and Albert listed in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
