Report: Packers TE Jermichael Finley Still Not Cleared, But has Visits Set Up

Update

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that Packers TE Jermichael Finley still hasn’t received medical clearance, but he has scheduled “multiple” visits next week.

Previous reports have indicated that the Chiefs, Giants, Jets, Seahawks and Steelers all have some amount of interest in Finley.

Finley’s agent, Blake Baratz, also said that the doctor who performed Finley’s fusion surgery believes he will have a “99.9%” chance of a full recovery.

Finley, 26, has already made it known that he has no intention of taking a reduced salary, despite concerns regarding his future health, but with a decent amount of interest, there is chance he could do better than I would have expected a few months ago.

We have Finley tentatively listed as the No. 41 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that Packers’ free agent TE Jermichael Finley is drawing interest from a number of NFL teams, even though he has yet to be officially cleared following a neck procedure.

According to Volin, the list of interested teams includes: the Chiefs, Giants, Jets, Seahawks and Steelers.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported a few weeks ago that a “healthy market” is former for Finleyso this would obviously confirm that.

The free agent class of tight ends is really without a top-tier option, unless someone is willing to give up two first-round picks and then sign Saints’ TE Jimmy Graham to a monster contract. With this in mind, Finley is in a good position to do pretty well for himself as long as he’s cleared to play.
