Report: Johnny Manziel On The Buccaneers โ€œShort Listโ€ Of Draft Targets

Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, citing a league source, reports that Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is on the โ€œshort listโ€ of players being considered by Buccaneers in round one of this yearโ€™s NFL draft.

  • McClureโ€™s source didnโ€™t specific just how short this list of players really is.
  • Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that Manziel is visiting with the Browns on Wednesday.

Tampa Bay has already met with a number of quarterback prospects including: Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), Derek Carr (Fresno State), Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois) and Garrett Gilbert (SMU).

Th Bucs reportedly met with UCF QB Blake Bortles at this yearโ€™s combine, so you can see that they have cast a wide net regarding quarterback prospects.

This canโ€™t be a good sign for last yearโ€™s second-round pick Mike Glennon as the team has already said publicly that Josh McCown will be the teamโ€™s starting quarterback as they head into the offseason.

Adding another prospect would most likely leave Glennon as the No. 3 option and possibly on the outs at some point.

We have the Buccaneers taking WR Mike Evans at No. 7 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
