Report: Johnny Manziel On The Buccaneers “Short List” Of Draft Targets

Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, citing a league source, reports that Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is on the “short list” of players being considered by Buccaneers in round one of this year’s NFL draft.

  • McClure’s source didn’t specific just how short this list of players really is.
  • Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that Manziel is visiting with the Browns on Wednesday.

Tampa Bay has already met with a number of quarterback prospects including: Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), Derek Carr (Fresno State), Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois) and Garrett Gilbert (SMU).

Th Bucs reportedly met with UCF QB Blake Bortles at this year’s combine, so you can see that they have cast a wide net regarding quarterback prospects.

This can’t be a good sign for last year’s second-round pick Mike Glennon as the team has already said publicly that Josh McCown will be the team’s starting quarterback as they head into the offseason.

Adding another prospect would most likely leave Glennon as the No. 3 option and possibly on the outs at some point.

We have the Buccaneers taking WR Mike Evans at No. 7 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
