Report: Lions Sign Jim Caldwell To A Four-Year Deal

Ian Rapoport reports that new HC Jim Caldwell’s contract with the Detroit Lions is a four-year agreement that will pay him between $4 million and $5 million annually.

  • Rapoport adds that the deal is believed to include incentives as well, but didn’t offer any specifics regarding the topic.

Caldwell has begun rounding out his coaching staff in recent days with the additions of:

  • Former Saints QBs coach Joe Lombardi as their offensive coordinator.
  • Ron Prince as assistant head coach and tight ends coach.
  • Former Ravens DBs coach Teryl Austin as their defensive coordinator.

Caldwell reportedly sold the Lions on his ability to work with quarterbacks and ways to fix some of Matthew Stafford‘s mechanical issues. He’s had a good deal of success in the past few years, which includes leading the Colts to a Super Bowl and helping the Ravens win a championship a year ago as their offensive coordinator.
