Report: Broncos Have Been In Contact With S Louis Delmas’ Agent

Update:

Mike Klis of Denver Post reports that the Broncos have been in contact with agent Drew Rosenhaus regarding his client free agent S Louis Delmas

  • Klis adds that the Broncos have yet to schedule a visit with Delmas.

Klis refers to Delmas as a “risky investment” and believes the Broncos would be better off spending their cap space on a better safety like Jairus Byrd or T.J. Ward, depending on Delmas’ asking price.

Reuben Frank of CSN Philly reports that even though the Eagles are “desperate” for help at the safety position, a league source has informed him that Philadelphia has “little interest” in free agent S Louis Delmas.

  • Frank adds that the Eagles’ lack of interest stems from Delmas’ health issues including a degenerative knee condition.

Delmas recently visited with the Steelers and is believed to have interest from the Falcons and Broncos as well.

Delmas, 26, was in the final year of his two-year, $7.715 million contract he signed with the just last year before the Lions elected to part ways and take the cap relief. He totaled 64 tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions over the course of nine games with the Lions in 2013.

Pro Football Focus rated him as an above average safety this past season.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that former Lions S Louis Delmas is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.

  • Ian Rapoport confirms that Delmas is meeting with the Steelers today and could be a replacement for veteran Ryan Clark who will be an unrestricted free agent.

The Lions are reportedly hoping that they can re-sign him at a lower rate, but it appears more likely that Delmas will meet with prospective teams before considering a return to the Lions.

The Falcons were also mentioned as a speculative option for Delmas.
