Report: Patriots Sign WR Mathew Slater To A Two-Year Extension

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Patriots have signed receiver and special teams ace Mathew Slater to a two-year contract extension.

  • According to Yates, the deal will pay Slater $4 million in total over the next two years and keep him under contract through the 2016 season.

Slater, 29, was in the final year of his three-year, $5.4 million contract and will make $1.2 million for the 2014 season.

Despite being in his seventh year with the Patriots, Slater has caught just a single pass. He has, however, made the Pro Bowl on special teams in each of the last three seasons.
