Robert Kraft Rejects Plea Offer

Update:

According to the Boston Globe, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has rejected the plea deal offered to him by the Florida prosecutor’s office.

The deal would have required Kraft to admit he was guilty of soliciting prostitution.

According to a person familiar with Kraft’s legal team, Kraft believes the proposal pushes the legal requirements of what’s called “deferred prosecution” beyond routine expectations.

Kraft has also filed a motion to stay the release of security footage showing him at the day spa, per TMZ.

T.J. Quinn of ESPN.com reports that the conditional offer to Patriots owner Robert Kraft in which he would admit to soliciting a prostitute is a โ€œnon-starterโ€ for him.

“The government wants Kraft to admit he would have been guilty of solicitation had the case proceeded,” Quinn writes. “Iโ€™m told thatโ€™s a non-starter for him. Expect intense negotiations over the next week in advance of Kraftโ€™s scheduled March 28 court date.

Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal reports that prosecutors have offered Patriots owner Robert Kraft and others involved a deal that would drop the charges against them for soliciting prostitution.

In return, Kraft and the other men would have to admit they would have been proven guilty, complete 100 hours of community service, screening for sexually transmitted diseases, completing a course about prostitution and paying some court costs.

It remains to be seen whether Kraft would agree to this offer and even if he does, it’s possible the NFL could determine that it’s a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy.

Prior reports mentioned that there were concerns regarding human trafficking at the spa, but court records show that Kraft interacted with two women that are both Florida residents.

We’ll have more regarding Kraft as the news is available.
