Report: Redskins Have Spoken Openly About Trading For Josh Rosen If Available

Sources tell Tony Pauline that the Redskins have spoken openly about possibly trading for Cardinals QB Josh Rosen if he ends up being available this offseason.

All the talk for the past week has centered around the Cardinals using the No. 1 overall pick on Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, which would open up potential trade options for Rosen.

It remains to be seen what the Cardinals will ultimately do with the No. 1 pick. It’s possible that Murray buzz is just smoke to drum up interest from teams to trade up with them.

However, it would be a mistake to rule out the possibility that they could make Rosen available.

The Redskins are in a tough cap situation due to the Alex Smith contract, which is why they’re likely to consider quarterbacks on rookie contracts like Rosen and a draft prospect.

Earlier in the week, Cardinals GM Steve Keim offered a tepid response when asked if Rosen is their starting quarterback moving forward.

“Is Josh Rosen our quarterback?” Keim said, via 98.7 Arizona Sports. “Yeah, he is right now. For sure.

Rosen, 22, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2018. He signed a four-year, $17,664,284 contract that includes an $10,926,792 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Cardinals to pick up in 2021.

In 2018, Rosen appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
