FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo tweeted Monday morning that Buffalo Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore could miss up to eight week with a hand/wrist injury.

Among many other of his teammates, Gilmore left the preseason game against the Washington Redskins early. He departed in the second quarter and immediately went to the locker room. Reports are that he had an MRI on Sunday.

Gilmore, a second year player, is the premier corner for the Bills defense. Losing him for any amount of time would be a big blow to a team under coaching changes.

Buffalo will certainly miss Gilmore immediately as the team opens the 2013 season against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
