Saints Acquire LB Barrett Ruud From The Seahawks

The New Orleans Saints have announced the acquisition of MLB Barrett Ruud from the Seattle Seahawks in return for an undisclosed draft pick.

In recent days, the Saints have had a number of key injuries to their linebackers. Chris Chamberlain is done for the season, David Hawthorne underwent meniscus surgery recently, and Curtis Lofton will miss the rest of the preseason with a high ankle sprain, so adding Ruud is more of a desperation move at this point. Pro Football Focus actually rated Ruud as the No. 48 inside linebacker out of 51 total last season. He’ll likely be a stopgap until Hawthorne and Lofton are ready to return.
