Saints DE Alex Okafor Can Opt Out Of Contract Next Year

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that Saints DE Alex Okafor has triggered a clause in his contract that gives him the option of opting out of the final year of his contract after recording three sacks.

Underhill mentions that Okafor will need to inform the Saints of his decision prior to the start of the 2019 league year.

Okafor, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. He played out the final year of his rookie contract when he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Saints in 2017.

Unfortunately, Okafor suffered a season-ending Achilles tear last year before eventually agreeing to a two-year deal worth up $10 million with the Saints.

In 2018, Okafor has appeared in 15 games for the Saints and recorded 35 tackles, four sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
