ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints and head coach Sean Payton have begun contract discussions, but still have a ways to go.
Schefter adds that his sources remain “convinced” that Payton will remain with Saints.
There has been a lot of speculation that Payton could leave for the Cowboys, and while that seems increasing unlikely, Schefter seemed to believe that it’s at least a remote possibility, while appearing Sunday Coutndown.
Jerry Jones has been adamant that he expects to have Jason Garrett as head coach next season, but if talks breakdown between the Saints and Payton, there’s always a chance that they could check in on him.
