Saints LB Kwon Alexander Out For Season With Torn Achilles

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that Saints LB Kwon Alexander did, in fact, suffer a torn Achilles on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season.

You can expect the Saints to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Saints fear LB Kwon Alexander suffered an Achilles injury during Friday’s game against the Vikings.

Alexander was quickly ruled out for the game against suffering what the Saints referred to as an “ankle” injury.

It’s likely Alexander will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury, but if tests confirm that it’s an Achilles injury, his season would almost certainly be over.

Alexander, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,758,320 contract before agreeing to a four-year contract worth $54 million with the 49ers in 2019.

He was traded to the Saints earlier this season for LB Kiko Alonso and a conditional fifth-round pick.

In 2020, Alexander has appeared in 11 games for the 49ers and Saints, recording 54 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, and four pass deflections.

We’ll have more regarding Alexander as the news is available.
