Saints Fined $500K & 7th-Rnd Pick For COVID-19 Protocol Violations

According to Adam Schefter, the NFL has fined the Saints $500,000 and stripped them of a seventh-round draft pick for not wearing masks during their postgame celebration of a win against the Buccaneers a few weeks ago.

Schefter adds the Saints are appealing the decision and arguing other teams have done the same thing and not been punished for it.

The team posted videos of its locker room celebration showing a number of maskless coaches and players following a 38-3 win against Tampa Bay in Week 9. Other players also posted videos to social media showing the violations.

Ian Rapoport notes the team was also found to have conducted mask-less meetings, another protocol violation.

The Saints were disciplined as repeat offenders by the NFL. Their situation is similar to the Raiders, as the NFL fined Las Vegas $500,000, docked HC Jon Gruden $150,000 and stripped the team of a sixth-round draft pick

Saints HC Sean Payton was already fined $100,000 for not wearing a mask in a game earlier this season and the organization was fined $250,000.
