Saints Re-Sign QB J.T. Barrett To PS, Release G Landon Turner

According to Nick Underhill, the Saints re-signed QB J.T. Barrett to their practice squad and released G Landon Turner to make room for him.

The Saints’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Garrett Griffin
  2. DE Alex Jenkins (International)
  3. WR Keith Kirkwood
  4. OL Nate Wozniak
  5. RB Boston Scott
  6. LB Darnell Sankey
  7. DT Tomasi Laulile
  8. G Will Holden
  9. DB Chris Campbell
  10. WR Shane Wynn
  11. QB J.T. Barrett

Barrett, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio State back in May before signing a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Saints. New Orleans elected to waive Barrett as they cut their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason and they later added him to their practice squad.

Barrett has been on and off of the Saints’ practice squad ever since.

During his four years at OSU, Barrett threw for 9,434 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,263 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Turner, 25, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina back in 2016. After making New Orleans’ active roster his rookie year, they cut him loose coming out of the next preseason and signed him to their practice squad.

The Saints re-signed him to a futures deal but waived him, once again, coming out of the preseason and added him to the taxi squad.

In 2016, Turner appeared in six games for the Saints.
