Saints Rookie DE Marcus Davenport Expected To Miss Around A Month With Toe Injury

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Saints first-round DE Marcus Davenport is expected to miss about a month with a toe injury he suffered last weekend.

Davenport is currently in a boot and the Saints plan to evaluate him in a month or so to see how he’s doing.

Davenport, 22, was taken with the No. 14 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by the Saints after they traded up with the Packers from No. 27 overall. He agreed to a $13,791,272 contract that includes an $8,110,016 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Saints to pick up in 2021.

In 2018, Davenport has appeared in seven games for the Saints and recorded 11 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses.

During his four-year college career at Texas-San Antonio, Davenport recorded 185 total tackles, 37.5 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, eight pass defenses, two fumble recoveries, six forced fumbles, and scored one defensive touchdown.
