Saints Worked Out 11 Free Agents Including CB Byron Maxwell

According to Howard Balzer, the New Orleans Saints brought in 11 free agents for workouts on Tuesday including veteran CB Byron Maxwell.

The full list of tryouts for the Saints includes:

  1. OL Oday Aboushi
  2. CB De’Vante Bausby
  3. CB Jeremy Boykins
  4. CB Darius Hillary
  5. CB Chris Lammons
  6. CB Byron Maxwell
  7. OT Chaz Green
  8. OL Austin Howard
  9. G Will Holden
  10. G Jordan Morgan
  11. G Isaiah Williams

Of this group, the Saints signed Hillary, Lammons, and Holden to their practice squad.

Maxwell, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He signed a six-year, $63 million contract that included $25 million guaranteed with the Eagles as a free agent before he was later traded to the Dolphins along with LB Kiko Alonso.

Maxwell was set to make a base salary of $10 million for the 2017 season when the Dolphins released him during the season and he later signed on with the Seahawks to finish out the year.

Seattle re-signed Maxwell before placing him on injured reserve coming out of the preseason. This is the first team to show reported interest in Maxwell since becoming a free agent.

In 2017, Maxwell appeared in nine games and recorded 46 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 25 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
