The Steelers announced Thursday they have re-signed LB Sutton Smith to the practice squad and released RB Darrin Hall.

Smith, 23, was drafted in the sixth round out of Northern Illinois by the Steelers in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.7 million rookie deal but was waived by the Steelers coming out of the preseason.
Smith spent a week earlier this season on the Jaguars practice squad and was on Pittsburgh’s practice squad for a day last week. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Hall, 22, wound up signing on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Pittsburgh following the 2019 NFL Draft. He agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract, but was waived soon after.
Hall spent time with the Bengals and Packers during the preseason this year. This was his second stint on Pittsburgh’s practice squad.
During his college career at Pittsburgh, Hall rushed 381 times for 2189 yards and 21 touchdowns, and caught 38 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown.
