Steelers Restructure LB Lawrence Timmons Contact

Brian McIntyre of Mac’s Football Blog reports that, according to league sources, the Pittsburgh Steelers have restructured LB Lawrence Timmons in move that will free up $5.14 million in cap space.

Timmons’ salary has been reduced to $700,000. Pittsburgh will take the remaining $1.285 million and add that to his $4.5 million roster bonus which will be prorated through 2016.  This comes months after he signed a five-year deal worth $47.8 million back in August.

Earlier in the week, the Steelers did the same thing with LaMarr Woodley‘s contract and released CB Bryant McFadden and WR Arnaz Battle. These four roster moves have freed up $11.22 million in cap space but the teams will need to make more moves in the coming weeks.

McIntyre mentions that Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu and James Harrison could have their contracts adjusted as well.
