The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed DE Casey Sayles to a futures contract for the 2018 season on Thursday.
As of now, the Steelers have signed 10 players to futures deals including:
- CB Dashaun Phillips
- LB Farrington Huguenin
- S Jordan Dangerfield
- TE Jake McGee
- LB Matt Galambos
- DE Lavon Hooks
- LB Keith Kelsey
- WR Justin Thomas
- WR Marcus Tucker
- DE Casey Sayles
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Sayles, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio back in May of last year. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Rams cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
Los Angeles elected to not sign him to their practice squad at the start of the regular season.
During his college career, Sayles recorded 110 tackles, 11.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and six pass defenses over the course of four years and 44 games.
