“Strong Interest” Between Patriots & NT Terrance Knighton, Redskins Still In The Mix

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that there’s still “strong interest” between the Patriots and free agent NT Terrance Knighton.

  • Volin adds that Knighton is choosing between either signing with the Patriots or the Redskins.

Yesterday, Anthony Gulizia of the Washington Times, citing a person familiar with the situation, reports that Knighton is leaning toward accepting an offer with the Patriots.

Knighton recently visited with the Redskins after meeting with the Patriots. However, Mike Jones mentioned Wednesday that there’s nothing imminent between Washington and Knighton right now.

Knighton, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2009. After four years in Jacksonville, Knighton signed on with the Broncos in 2013.

He wound up signing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Redskins after finding a limited amount of interest last year and is once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Knighton appeared in 15 games for the Redskins and totaled 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 defensive tackle out of 70 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
