Tajh Boyd Could Be A Late-Round Option For The Panthers

Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer writes that Clemson QB Tahj Boyd could be an “intriguing option” for the Panthers in the later rounds of this year’s NFL Draft.

Person adds that the Panthers could target a quarterback like Boyd depending on whether or not they re-sign QB Derek Anderson who will be an unrestricted free agent in a matter of weeks.

It’s hard to pin point where Boyd is likely to be selected in the draft, as some see him as as a late-round pick at best.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper cited height and consistency issues as the main reasons why Boyd could fall to day three of the draft, but Person notes that these were the same issues being discussed of Russel Wilson a few years ago.

Carolina has their franchise quarterback in Cam Newton, but he is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is in line for a huge raise. However, the Panthers cap issues could force them to hold off on locking him up right away.
