Tampa Bay Ready To Spend Big In Free Agency

Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune reports that Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik has made the decision to roll over all fo the team’s $23.5 million in cap space to this year which means that you can expect the Buccaneers to be in on a number of this years top free agents.

We’ll be more active in free agency that we were last year,” Dominik said. “We purposely rolled every penny we could into this year’s cap. Clubs didn’t have to do that, but we wanted to. We have plans.”

The article specifically mentions that Tampa Bay will have a total of $60.5 million available to use. That’s a staggering amount of cap space but still second to the Kansas City Chiefs who come in slightly over $62 million.

There are a number positions that the Buccaneers could use help at. Multiple cornerbacks and linebackers are needed as well as some help on the defensive line. You could make the case for another running back and an addition receiver to go along some additional for their o-line.

Speculative targets could include: Vincent Jackson, Mario Williams, Brent Grimes and possibly Curtis Lofton.
