Terrell Suggs Will Report To Chiefs

Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk reports that veteran OLB Terrell Suggs is planning to report to the Chiefs after being claimed off of waivers by Kansas City on Monday.

Terez A. Paylor has confirmed the news and adds that Suggs has informed the team he’s “ready to go.

On Sunday, a report mentioned that Suggs may not report to any team that claimed him other than the Ravens, so there was at least some question about whether he could retire.

The Chiefs are poised for a playoff run and could use a pass rusher like Suggs after losing Alex Okafor for the season on Monday.

It’s worth mentioning that the Saints, 49ers, and Seahawks also placed claims for Suggs, but the Chiefs had the higher priority.

Suggs, 37, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2003. He played out the final year of his five-year, $28.5 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed and made a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2018 season.

The Cardinals later signed Suggs to a one-year, $7 million contract this past March before waiving him on Thursday. The Chiefs claimed him off of waivers.

In 2019, Suggs has appeared in 13 games for the Cardinals and recorded 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and a recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 70 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
