Texans Sign WR Cecil Shorts To A Two-Year, $6M Deal

Zac Jackson first reported that the Houston Texans have reached an agreement with WR Cecil Shorts.

  • Mike Garafolo reports that Shorts’ two-year contract with the Texans is worth $6 million.
  • Mark Berman of Fox 26 (KRIV) reported earlier in the day that Shorts was visiting with the Texans on Monday.
  • John McClain mentioned that the Texans are like to draft another receiver within the first two rounds.

Shorts reportedly had at least some interest from the  Browns, Chargers, and Jets.

Shorts, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Jaguars, who played out his four-year, $2,672,146 rookie contract that included $443,380 guaranteed.

In 2014, Shorts caught 66 receptions for 777 yards receiving and three touchdowns over the course of 13 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
