Texans Will Start Case Keenum In Week 9

Texans HC Gary Kubiak announced on Monday that Case Keenum will be their starting quarterback for Week 9’s game against the Colts.

“Matt’s health is fine, said HC Gary Kubiak. “It’s a decision based on what I saw take place last week with Case.”

Schaub is reportedly dealing with torn ligaments in his ankle that he expects to play through. But with the Texans giving Keenum another shot, it may have to wait to get another opportunity this season.

Keenum managed to put together a pretty strong performance against the Chiefs defense in his NFL debut. The undrafted rookie completed 15-of-25 passes for 271 yards, one touchdown and one turnover.

Meanwhile, Schaub, 32, is in the second year of his five-year, $66.15 million contract. He is clearly a candidate to be cut following the season.
