Texans Worked Out WR Javontee Herndon

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans worked out former Chargers wide receiver Javontee Herndon on Friday.

Herndon, 24, signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas back in May of 2014. He was unable to make the 53-man roster, but later ended up on their practice squad last year.

Herndon returned to the Chargers on a future/reserve contract in 2015 and spent most of the year on their practice squad before he was eventually called up in November. Unfortunately, Herndon was waived with an injury designation last year and spent the entire year on injured reserve.

Los Angeles declined to tender him a qualifying offer this past March.

In 2015, Herndon appeared in eight games for the Chargers and caught 24 passes for 195 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He added 157 kick return yards and another 81 punt return yards for the Chargers.
