Titans Expected To Release S Johnathan Cyprien, Could Bring Him Back At Lower Salary

Adam Schefter reports that the Titans are expected to release safety Johnathan Cyprien sometime this week.

Schefter adds that Tennessee would like to bring Cyprien back at a lower salary.

Cyprien missed the entire 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL last summer.

Cyprien, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $5,469,104 contract with the Jaguars before signing a four-year, $25 million contract with the Titans last year.

Cyprien was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million and $5.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Cyprien will free up $4.75 million of available cap space while creating $1.5 million in dead money.

In 2017, Cyprien appeared in 10 games for the Titans and recorded 57 tackles, one sack, no interceptions and a pass defense.
