Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean wouldn’t be surprised to see the Titans showed interest in free agent running backs Ben Tate (Texans) and Donald Brown (Colts).
The Titans still have Chris Johnson under contract for three more years, so until a decision is made regarding his status with the team, it seems likely that their focus would be on other positions.
Johnson, 28, signed six-year, $55.26 million contract and has a base salary of $8 million coming his way next season.
The Titans could save $4 million in cap space if they were to release him outright, according to OverTheCap.com. However, Tennessee could boost that figure to $8 million by designating him as a post-June 1 cut.
We have Tate and Browns both included in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
