Titans OT Jack Conklin Planning To Sign With Jets?

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that Titans OT Jack Conklin will have many suitors in free agency, but he is not expected to land with the Jets, despite prior reports.

Schefter explains that while the Jets like Conklin, the competition for him will be “intense and there will be many suitors.”

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that at least one NFL teams has been informed that Titans free agent OT Jack Conklin plans to sign with the Jets once free agency opens in the coming weeks.

Numerous reports have said that the Jets are going to spend big on their offensive line this offseason and Conklin is, arguably, the best available option in free agency this year.

Last week, Tony Pauline reported that the Jets are in hot pursuit on Conklin.

On Saturday, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN mentioned that some around the league believe Conklin will end up topping the $18 million per year the Eagles are paying Lane Johnson and become the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL.

Conklin, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Titans out of Michigan State back in 2016. He just finished the final year of his four-year, $15,897,658 deal and made a base salary of $2,617,863 for the 2019 season.

The Titans declined Conklin’s fifth-year option last year that would have been worth $12.866 million, making him an unrestricted free agent this year for the first time in his career.

In 2019, Conklin started all 16 games for the Titans at right tackle. He finished the year as Pro Football Focus‘ No. 10 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.

We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
