Titans Promote Dick LeBeau To Asst. HC/Defensive Coordinator

The Tennessee Titans announced that they’ve made Dick LeBeau their assistant head coach/defensive coordinator.

  • The Titans also hired veteran coach Bobby April as their new special teams coordinator.

This comes just hours after DC Ray Horton departed for the Browns’ defensive coordinator position under new HC Hue Jackson.

There was some concern about Titans HC Mike Mularkey’s ability to bring in quality coaches, given that he only received a three-year contract from the team instead of a longer-term commitment. However, keeping LeBeau in Tennessee is a big move the team’s defensive continuity.

Last year, the Steelers elected to move on from LeBeau, but he later caught on with the Titans, serving as assistant head coach/defense under his long-time protégé Horton.

In 2015, the Titans ranked No. 12 in total yards, No. 7 in passing yards, No. 18 in rushing yards and No. 27 in total points allowed.
