TRADE: Giants Trade OLB Markus Golden To Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals announced Friday that they’ve traded a 2021 sixth-round pick to the Giants for OLB Markus Golden.Markus Golden

Golden had clearly fallen out of favor in New York and now gets to return to his former team, who could use some pass rush help after losing Chandler Jones for the season.

Golden, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract and signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Giants after testing the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.

New York used unrestricted free agent tender on Golden this summer, which will pay him around $5.1 million for the 2020 season. He gets a $4.125 million base salary as a 110 percent increase from his deal last year and a $1 million incentive.

In 2020, Golden has appeared in seven games for the Giants, but made just one start. He has recorded 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass defense.
