Veteran CB Valentino Blake Retiring From NFL

Dan Duggan of NJ.com reports that free agent CB Valentino Blake is retiring from the NFL.

Blake left the Giants during training camp for personal reasons, which led to the team placing him on a reserve list. New York elected to cut Blake loose this past weekend.

Blake, 27, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2012. He lasted just over a year in Jacksonville before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season and later claimed by the Steelers.

Pittsburgh brought Blake back on one-year deals for the 2014 and 2015 seasons before he later departed last March for a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Titans.

The Giants signed him to a contract this March.

In 2016, Blake appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 42 tackles, no interceptions and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 80 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
