Vince Wilfork: “I Think I Have Played My Last NFL Football Game”

Texans veteran DT  Vince Wilfork told reporters after Saturday’s loss to the Patriots, “I think I have played my last NFL football game.”

No emotions and I will take my time and think about it. I think I have played my last NFL football game,” Wilfork said, via ESPN.com. “I will take the time and do my due diligence and sit back see if I really want to retire. We will see. I don’t know how long that will take. I will see, it doesn’t change the fact that I enjoyed every bit of my career; I enjoyed 11 great years in New England and enjoyed two great years in Texas with unbelievable teammates. I couldn’t have any better teammates from both organizations and you talk about the organizations themselves and you talk about top of the class. These are two owners that anyone would love to play for.

Last week, Wilfork mentioned that he was contemplating the possibility of calling it a career, so this isn’t a big surprise.

Wilfork, is a former first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2004. After 11 years in New England Wilfok signed on with the Texans in 2015.

He’s currently in the final year of his two-year, $9 million contract. The deal contains $5 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Wilfork appeared in 15 games for the Texans and recorded 21 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 interior defensive lineman out of 123 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Wilfork possibly retiring as the news is available.
