Xavier Rhodes An Option For The Saints?

Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune believes that Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes is “a very realistic option” for the Saints at No.15 overall.

New Orleans recently targeted cornerbacks in the free agent market including Nnamdi Asomugha and Tracy Porter, even after they signed Keenan Lewis in the first few weeks of free agency. This could be a sign that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan sees the position as an area in need of upgrades to fit his 3-4 scheme.

Rhodes appears to be an ideal fit for Ryan’s system. He offers great size at 6 feet 2, 210 pounds and could be effective as a press-man corner. Rhodes is believed to be an option for the Dolphins and Buccaneers, who are selecting at No. 12 and No. 13 respectively, but there’s no guarantee that they would grab him in round one.

Last year, the Saints the worst defense in NFL history after having allowed a total of 6,799 yards to opposing offenses, so they could clearly use some help in the secondary.
