Packers Re-Signing RB Christine Michael

Field Yates reports that the Packers are signing RB Christine Michael to a contract after his visit on Wednesday.

The Packers are surprisingly much more active this year in terms of targeting free agents. They signed Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks a few weeks ago and also met with DL Ricky Jean-Francois and OT Byron Bell on Wednesday.

Michael, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the season for a conditional seventh-round pick.

He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.374 million rookie contract when the Cowboys cut him last year. After clearing waivers, the Redskins signed him to their practice squad before releasing him in December.

The Seahawks elected to bring Michael back in 2015 and he later returned to Seattle on a one-year, $765,000 contract. Unfortunately, the Seahawks cut him loose during the season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Packers.

In 2016, Michael appeared in 15 games between the Seahawks and Packers and rushed for 583 yards on 148 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 107 yards receiving and eight total touchdowns.
