Texans Claim LB Ben Heeney Off Waivers From Saints, Waive DB Kurtis Drummond

The Texans have claimed LB Ben Heeney off of waivers from the Saints on Wednesday, according to Adam Caplan.

  • The Texans officially waived DB Kurtis Drummond to make room for Henney.

Heeney, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2,773,724 contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 when the Raiders elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The Saints signed him to their practice squad last week before calling up for Week 4’s game.

In 2016, Heeny appeared in four games for the Raiders and recorded 15 tackles and no sacks or interceptions.
