Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that despite months of speculation regarding Chip Kellyโs future with the Eagles, heโs still likely to be back in Philadelphia next season.
According to La Canfora, ownership has no plans to move on from him, even though the team has struggled mightily this season.
Kelly reportedly reiterated his dedication to his players last week and has the support of team owner Jeffrey Lurie.
Sources have told La Canfora that Lurie is not considering a change at this point in time, as he is very loyal and believes in Kelly long-term.
Beyond that, Lurie reportedly has no interest in starting the process of finding another general manage, even after some of Kellyโs roster moves have backfired thus far.
La Canfora admits that Kelly could still opt to leave and return to the college ranks. In fact, La Canfora mentions that this would come as no surprise to some of his players.
However, the further things get into December, the less likely heโll be returning to the college game.
Even though things havenโt gone as expected for the Eagles in 2015, thereโs still time for the them to get things turned around and make the playoffs, considering that theyโre just one game back in the loss column to the Giants and Redskins.
Since taking the Eaglesโ head-coaching job back in 2013, Kelly has led them to a record of 24-19 (55.8 percent) including two 10-6 seasons and a playoff appearance.
Weโll have more regarding Kellyโs future with the Eagles as the news is available.
