49ers Announce That Colin Kaepernick Will Start In Week 13

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that Colin Kaepernick will be their starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Rams.

While this might not come as much of a surprise, it’s worth noting that this is this the first week that Alex Smith has been one hundred percent healthy, so this decision is a clear indication that they believe Kaepernick gives them the best shot of winning games.

Smith’s future in San Francisco is cloudy at best, despite the fact that he signed a three-year deal worth $24 million back in March.

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that a decision regarding the team’s starting quarterback will be made by midweek, via the Associated Press.

Harbaugh didn’t inform Colin Kaepernick that he would be starting until Saturday night, so at least he plans on announcing his decision sooner this time.

Alex Smith is our starting quarterback. He has not done anything to lose that job,” he said. “In fact, he’s playing at a very high level. Also, Colin Kaepernick, you can’t categorize him as a backup quarterback, because he’s started games and played very well in those games.”

While Smith may not have done anything other than get concussed, it seems likely that San Francisco would move forward with Kaepernick as their starter, considering that he not only brings another element to their offense, but he also possesses a much stronger arm. We’ll have more on this topic throughout the week .
