49ers Name Tom Gamble New Assistant General Manager

The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday that they’ve named Tom Gamble their new assistant general manager.

Tom is an accomplished talent evaluator who grew up around the game of football,” said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. “Having spent the last 28 years of his life in the NFL, his wealth of experience has been invaluable to our organization for almost a decade. Tom is a hard-working professional and more importantly a good man. We are excited he will continue to play an integral role in the development of our team.”

Gamble began his NFL career as an assistant in the Eagles’ player personnel department back in 1988. He later worked for the Jets, Panthers, Ravens and Colts before joining the 49ers their director of pro personnel where he would remain for six years.

Gamble later departed to become the Eagles vice president of player personnel, but returned to the 49ers last year after he and the Eagles parted ways.

It worth mentioning that Gamble has close ties to current 49ers HC Chip Kelly and was with him while in Philadelphia.
