49ers OLB Aaron Lynch 20 LBs Overweight, Possible Roster Cut?

According to Grant Cohn of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, 49ers OLB Aaron Lynch appears to be 20 pounds overweight and could be among the team’s potential roster cuts before the start of the season.

Cohn also mentioned TE Vance McDonald, TE Blake Bell, WR DeAndre Smelter, WR Aaron Burbridge, WR Bruce Ellington, OLB Eli Harold, CB Keith Reaser and CB Prince Charles Iworah as other players from the Trent Baalke era who could be on the outs this summer.

Lynch, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.418 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Lynch would free up $1,797,000 of available cap space while creating $49,500 in dead money.

In 2016, Lynch appeared in seven games and recorded 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 222 total snaps.
