In a corresponding move, the team waived DE Xavier Thomas with an injury designation.
Dinkins signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent this past spring but was injured and let go during training camp. Now it seems like he’s healthy now and the 49ers wanted to get him back in their program.
Dinkins, 24, earned honorable mention All-Big 10 honors in his final season at Penn State. He signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft but was waived with an injury designation during camp.
During his five-year college career, Dinkins caught 37 passes for 399 yards and seven touchdowns in 49 games with 15 career starts.
