The San Francisco announced the signing of LB Steve Beauharnais on Friday following the release of Aldon Smith, per Aaron Wilson.
The 49ers and Colts recently brought him in a for a workout, so his market was starting to pick up in recent days.
Beauharnais, 25, was taken in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. Beauharnais was unfortunately unable to make the 53-man coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the Redskins’ practice squad.
Washington wound up waiving him just days after this year’s draft.
In 2014, Beauharnais appeared in three games for Washington and recorded four total tackles.
