49ers Release DT Jeremy Liggins From Practice Squad

The San Francisco 49ers officially released DT Jeremy Liggins from their practice squad on Saturday.

The team now has an open roster spot to work with next week, so you can expect them to sign someone in the coming days.

The 49ers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR DeAndre Carter
  2. OL John Flynn
  3. QB Nick Mullens
  4. WR DeAndre Smelter
  5. OL Darrell Williams Jr.
  6. RB Jeremy McNichols
  7. OT Pace Murphy
  8. DB Greg Mabin
  9. TE Cole Wick

Liggins, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Seahawks cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The 49ers signed Liggins to their practice squad a few weeks ago.

During his college career at Ole Miss, Liggins played tight end and caught 26 passes for 49 yards receiving and touchdowns over the course of two seasons and 13 games.
