AFC Notes: Browns, Ravens, Steelers

Browns

  • Kim Jones reports that Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr will have surgery to repair his ACL on November 10. Jones says Beckham sounded optimistic and in good spirits regarding his recovery.

Ravens

  • It is quite clear that Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson is excited to have veteran WR Dez Bryant join his team: “Oh man, he’s a great route runner. He has strong hands. He’s dialed into the playbook; he’s always asking me questions about the playbook. He wants to compete. I just can’t wait until he gets out there with us on Sundays and fully practices with us.” (Jon Machota)
  • Ravens HC John Harbaugh was noncommittal about whether Bryant could be promoted from before Sunday’s game: “When we feel like he’s ready to come up in-shape and knows the offense well enough and has enough capability with Lamar on enough plays, then we’ll bring him up,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “When it happens, I think it’ll happen. I don’t think it’s something you want to force feed in there. So, we’ll just have to see as we go.” (Jamison Hensley)
  • Harbaugh believes RG Tyre Phillips (ankle) will be placed on short-term injured reserve and miss three games. (Jamison Hensley
  • DOUBTFUL for Week 9: RB Mark Ingram (ankle), WR Chris Moore (thigh)
  • QUESTIONABLE for Week 9: WR Devin Duvernay (thigh), CB Jimmy Smith (back)
