AFC Notes: Browns, Steelers, Titans

Browns

According to Todd Haley, theย Browns quarterbacks room is “probably one of the bestย โ€“ if not the best โ€“ quarterbacks rooms.”

โ€œThis isย probably one of the bestย โ€“ if not the best โ€“ quarterbacks rooms, in general, that Iโ€™ve had,โ€ Haley said, via Brown.com. โ€œThe group, in general, is what Iโ€™m excited about. I think that itโ€™s an intelligent, intelligent group, with ability to throw the football and make plays with their legs, some of them. When you have that, I think that good things happen. Competition is created in the room, even though theyโ€™re working hard together to help each other and get better as a group.โ€

Haley also spoke highly of Tyrod Taylor and the job he’s done up to this point.

โ€œI thought that Tyrod has done a tremendous, tremendous job of establishing himself as the leader of this offense. His car is there every morning in his spot when I get here in the morning, and itโ€™s there when Iโ€™m leaving,โ€ Haley said. โ€œThatโ€™s what youโ€™re looking for in the leader of your offense. I think that heโ€™s done a great job with understanding the terminology, concepts and all of the different things. Like I said, we threw a lot at him. Heโ€™s more of a show what to do, more than by talking. Iโ€™ve really been impressed and encouraged by him.โ€

Steelers

Titans

  • Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official site mentions that second-round OLB Harold Landry will have a hard time earning a starting role this season while playing behind Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan.ย Even so, Wyatt still expects Landry to be an “impact player” in 2018.
  • Regarding what position looked the best during minicamp, Wyatt says starting CBsย Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan and Adoreeโ€™ Jackson have “all been solid“, while backups LeShaun Sims and Tye Smith have also played well.
  • Titans GM Jon Robinson indicated that he has had some “productive conversations” with LT Taylor Lewan‘s agent regarding a contract extension.
