AFC Notes: Chargers, Jets, Titans

Chargers

Chargers GM Tom Telesco says that while extending QB Philip Rivers is definitely a priority, he doesn’t have a timetable on when it will happen exactly.

“We wanted to get through free agency, get through the draft, see where we are right now and we’ll look at it from here and through the draft,” Telesco said, via NFL.com“But I really don’t have any firm timetable on it. I’m very comfortable where we are right now. We’ll talk with everybody and see where we are.”

Jets

The Jets continue to be noncommital to LB Darron Lee, who’s been the subject of frequent trade rumors, following the draft.

“Darron has played and done some good things for us,” GM Mike Maccagnan said via ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “We’ll see how this unfolds going forward. I think we have some very good competition at a lot of positions. We have very good depth at a lot of positions. We’ll see how it unfolds going forward.”

  • According to the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta, Jets HC Adam Gase was in the war room during the draft and spoke to all the picks. He just didn’t appear on camera or get quoted by the team website.
  • Mehta says to keep an eye on WR Greg Dortch among the Jets’ class of undrafted free agents, saying one NFC scout raved about him like he was Wes Welker
  • Mehta reports the Jets had discussions with the Bills and Raiders about trading down from No. 3, but no deal was ever close.
