AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Titans

Colts

Colts HC Frank Reich said it’s his understanding that new QB Philip Rivers has been throwing to teammates this offseason.

I know he’s doing that. He’s here now, he’s in Indy…I know he’s already calling guys to throw,” said Reich, via Kevin Bowen of 1075TheFan.

As for the Colts’ added depth this offseason, Reich believes the organization has gradually become more talented and praised GM Chris Ballard.

“I think each year, it’s gotten deeper and stronger. That’s really a credit to Chris (Ballard) and his staff and really everyone. I think the vision becomes clearer and clearer.”

Jaguars

  • Jaguars DC Todd Wash said Friday that they won’t be a true 3-4 defensive unit this season. (Jason Reid)
  • Wash wouldn’t say for sure if first-round pick C.J. Henderson is going to start at one of the cornerback spots. However, Jason Reid says he wasn’t drafted ninth overall to be a backup.

Titans

  • Titans GM Jon Robinson on the decision to trade DE Jurrell Casey: “Jurrell is an outstanding player and person. The decisions we make here are not personal. That was not an easy decision to make, but it was one we felt was best for our football team.” (Terry McCormick)
  • Robinson also said he spoke with WR Corey Davis and discussed the financial commitment required for a fifth-year option. Robinson is optimistic that Davis can have a good season and that the two sides can work out a deal, noting that Davis is ready to return to action. (Turron Davenport)
  • The Titans have not spoken with K Ryan Succop about a potential return and Robinson said that the door isn’t closed despite the fact that he is impressed by K Greg Joseph who is slated to be the starter. (Jim Wyatt)
